How do I set up assessment submission rules in assessON Teacher Edition?

Last Updated: Apr 06, 2016 11:36AM AEST

When assigning an assessment to your students the teacher must select a System Action when the assessment is due. This means what action you would like the system to automatically do when the submission time and date arrives. The teacher has three options to choose from:

Auto submit — the assessment is automatically submitted and marked, whether or not all questions have been attempted or completed. All answered or attempted questions are marked and scores are awarded accordingly.  If a student is undertaking an assessment at the time when the assessment is due, then the assessment is auto-submitted even if the student has not completed nor submitted it. Ideally, this would occur after a 2-minute warning e.g. ‘The assessment is due in 2 minutes and will be auto submitted’.  The auto-submission will ensure all answered questions are saved. Similarly, if a student is undertaking an assessment and the time allowed expires before the due date and time is reached, then the assessment should also be auto-submitted, even if the student has not completed the assessment.

Do not allow late submission — the assessment is automatically submitted, whether or not all questions have been attempted or completed. All answered or attempted questions are not marked and a total score of zero is awarded. If a student is undertaking an assessment at the time when the assessment is due, then the assessment will be auto-submitted even if the student has not completed or submitted the assessment. All answered or attempted questions will not be saved and a total score of zero will be awarded. Ideally, this would occur after a 2-minute warning e.g. ‘The assessment is due in 2 minutes and will be auto submitted’. If a student is undertaking an assessment and the time allowed expires before the due time is reached, then the assessment will be auto-submitted, even if the student has not completed and a total score of zero will be awarded.

Allow late submission — the assessment can be submitted at any time after the due date and time is reached, whether or not all questions have been attempted or completed. When the student does eventually submit, all answers or attempted questions are marked and scores are awarded accordingly. If a student is undertaking an assessment at the time when the assessment is due, then the assessment should not be auto-submitted. However, if a student is undertaking an assessment and the time allowed expires before the due time is reached, then the assessment will be auto-submitted, even if the student has not completed it. All answered or attempted questions are be marked and sores are awarded accordingly.
